The official football season is closing for Glencoe Trevian Football, but players, coaches and parents are already looking forward to building an already strong program. Last week, players, coaches and their families gathered at Vernon's on Vernon in Glencoe to celebrate a year's worth of successes. After four years of the offering in the village, the program now boasts 240 players on seven teams.

A review by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has determined that the Village of Glencoe has minimally exceeded the allowed lead levels for water through a test that specifically looks at those levels as water is pumped out of users' faucets.

North Suburban Traveler: Jane Feely of Gurnee takes her family back to Tenby, the small Welsh town she grew up in, and finds plenty to captivate today's teenagers. It's a good four-hour drive from London's Heathrow airport to the peace and tranquility of South West Wales. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Tenby's long stretches of sandy beach are a great attraction for families.

Film gets screening for Lipschutz's birthday
At a 1978 benefit for striking miners, the late Studs Terkel sang the praises of Evanston artist and lifelong political activist Peggy Lipschutz. "Peggy Lipschutz is just as much a part of Chicago as Richard J. Daley ever was," Terkel said. "She's just known to a better class of people."
